Should I Still Work Out Even When I’m Sick?

That's one of the questions we get asked a lot in SMP.

Short answer?

No.

And I know for high-performing women like you,
parts of you feel like skipping a training day feels wrong.

The high-achieving parts of you say,

“You’re supposed to get up!”
“Go to the gym!”
“Get things done!”

And those parts of us are great.

They helped us push through even when times are hard, but…

Maybe we can also give some air time to those parts of us that need rest?

One thing we always say to our clients:
The hardest work is knowing when to rest and to play.

And sometimes, especially when you are sick and life happens?

Skipping your training is the BEST idea.

Besides, what’s the point of getting ripped and being sick?
Training can wait, can’t it?

Your body also needs to be listened to.
And if you don’t hear what your body is saying, you can hear it from us:

It’s OKAY to rest.
It’s OKAY to feel tired.

WE all do.

So could you perhaps be more compassionate to yourself?

In SMP, you will learn to

→ organise your training and rest days
→ perform optimally and effectively
→ have high standards and self-compassion

Trapped In Your Head? Expand

We get stuck in our head.

We get stuck in a loop of worrying,
of regret, of planning.

And sometimes we can’t quite put our finger on it.

It feels like we’re somehow disconnected from the world that we’re stuck up in our head.

It’s an interesting thing.

Now…

We CAN escape that stuckness.

This is a trap that we can feel like we’re stuck in, but actually…

The door is right there.

We have the key in our hands.

And we can escape that trap of being stuck in our mind.

How?

By meditation.

Meditation and mindfulness is a reminder that there is a WHOLE world to explore.

It’s a reminder that:

Hey, yes. There’s a lot of thoughts in our head and they’re really compelling.
And they can feel like they’ve got this trap.

But there’s also a body that you can tune into.

And this body is connected to the world around you.

And you can experience your body.
You can experience the world around you.

Better.

And that can give me a little bit more space.

And perhaps, you will not feel as trapped as you once did.

And if you can continue to follow this path?

You can feel a sense of freedom.

Which is a beautiful gift.

Now…

A lot of people meditate because they have the idea of more focus, of performing at a higher level.

And that comes from a place of power.

Meditation can be a very powerful practice.

But more than that, meditation is also an opportunity to experience freedom.

So here’s a reminder for you:

YOU are more than your mind.

That if you do feel trapped?

You have a BODY that you can expand into
in a world YOU can expand into.

And eventually, once you’ve found your way out…

You’ll land into the freedom that you want.

In your mind.
In yourself.
In your life.

And that’s the level of transformation and personal mastery we’ll help you achieve inside SMP.

Would you like some help?

Step into your power.
Now is the time.

Girls Who Train With Less Effort Than You Easily Get Results Fast?

Isn’t it maddening?
What is happening?

This doesn’t make sense.
Funny enough I’ve been there too.

Training super hard the wrong way
and not getting what I wanted.

Once I figured it out?

I became a world champion.

So here’s the thing
For those who have a training age of zero?

All they need to do is start training
eat right and then their body changes.

What about for someone like you
Who has a training age of 2+ years?

The rules are now different.
Training isn’t where your body changes In fact, overfocusing on training
is the reason you’re stuck.

The variable that determines
how, when, and how much
your physique changes?

RECOVERY.

In between your sets, sessions & programs
Your sleep.

So how much sleep do you need?

When you’re training hard?8-10 hours

The movement patterns
that you were practising during your training
are stored in your brain as you sleep the inflammation you create as you train is repaired in sleep.

Your brain at this time reconsolidates everything
that it learned during the day and builds you a new body.

What happens if you don’t sleep
8-10 hours?

Memories aren’t reconsolidated, your movement patterns don’t improve.

Strength improves slowly or plateaus.

You don’t see you physique change because it doesn’t get a chance to rebuild at night.

You also need to recover between your
weekly, monthly,
& quarterly training week cycles.

Organising when to train and how to rest is a science.

Would you like some help with that?

And a tonne more.

What Makes SMP Different?

Hiring mentors is one of the best parts about my job now.

I run SMP as a company.

And one of the things that I'm really excited about is that:

We hire our mentors.

Brendan Harris, my and Hattie’s first mentor in the fitness industry,
now oversees the development of programming with our coaching team.

He’s helping us to get our team to the standard that we've always coached at.

We also work with Dan Aubin, who teaches us how to communicate effectively.

Dan is a senior lecturing communications, a world class hand balancer.

And he teaches all of us how we can communicate with you better
and help you get the results that you want from your training.

We work with Michelle Baty, who's now becoming a partner in the business.

Michelle is a Neuro-Psych who sought us the principles of functional compassion and neuroscience. And that's how we coach you.

In SMP, we hire our mentors because that's who got us to where we are, Hattie and I.

And we want YOU to have the same experience.

Would I Be Involved In Something Like SMP?

The experience of SMP for me
in two words is:

Life changing.

I thought I knew a lot
about what I was doing.

And I probably do
compared to most people.

But what I needed to learn
mainly was about me,
about why things were
and were not working.

And about why I wasn't getting
where I needed to get to.

So the experience for me, about me,
has been the MOST amazing thing
that I've been through.

If you'd ask me two or three years ago:

“Would I be involved in something like SMP?”

The flight out answer
would have been NO.

So allowing myself the opportunity
to have and learn about this experience
on top of all of the learning…

…has been absolutely amazing.

I didn't think that I could learn
so much and change so much
in such a short space of time.
I can see the results.

I've learned about
commitment and hard work
on a different level.

I've learned that
the commitment to yourself
is the most important thing.

And that with the right team
of people around you:

The right support network,
The right coaches,
The right education,
The right knowledge…

It really is what is needed
to support you to the next level
of that body composition journey.

You asked me a year ago:

“Would I even consider
getting on stage in a competition?”

It also would’ve been
a flat out NO.

But to me now,
it's unrealistic because
I thought it might have been
a few years ago,
even for someone
who's my age.

So it's been absolutely amazing
to date my coach.

Everybody is outstanding.

Are you ready
to take yourself
to the next level?

To have a better and more
meaningful experience with yourself
and your journey towards
elite body composition?

Why Overload Techniques Work for Me But Won’t Work For You

Yes! One more rep could hurt all your gains.

But people still love overload techniques
because they feel hard and burn a lot.

Progressive overload
is crucial to building strength & muscle.

But

If applied incorrectly,
it can be counterproductive.

How?

#1: Good quality reps beat bad quality reps

Rather than resting the right amount of time?

You find ways to do more reps and sets
Sure you have gone beyond failure.

But if you had rested for a minute extra instead?
They would have been your best quality reps.

It may feel like you are winning for extending to or past failure

In reality?

All those junk reps are only killing your recovery.

#2: You’re using the advanced version

Advanced programs are hard to nail
Especially if you haven't even nailed the basics yet.

You need more simple programs
where your load & intensity increase
over the program.

Failure to follow the basics of progressive overload
are why your results have stalled for so long.

#3: You’re spending too much time just adding weight to the bar

This is one of the reasons why heaps of girls get stuck.

They try to get stronger by adding more load.
But they don’t get enough different types of stimulus.

One of the differences between SMP and other programs?

We have varied the stimulus in each program.

Sometimes, we change one or two variables like rest and number if sets

And that change in stimulus is what makes
the competitive athletes in SMP
better than everybody else.

They get an infinite amount of variations.

So they get results that last.

Is that what you want?

Need help?

In SMP, you will:

→ receive high-level programming and specific coaching around training, nutrition & mindset.

→ be guided by a team of Elite Coaches, WBFF Pro Divas, Strength & Conditioning Athletes, & a World Champion.

→ learn how to achieve elite body composition and maintain it for the rest of your life.

SMP is only for the hardest worker in the room.

The Myth of Confidence & the Truth of Love

Confidence is a funny thing.

When I was a young fella, I believed:

If I was only more confident,
then I would be able to live a life that I love.

Then I was thinking if I was better looking,
then I’d be more confident.

If I was just a bit cooler,
then I’d be more confident.

If I was a bit more muscly,
then I’d be more confident.

Now I was really fortunate that along the way,
I found out about meditation.

And one of the gifts meditation gave me
was the capacity to love myself
and the world around me more deeply.

And I realised that:

Confidence wasn’t actually what I thought it was.

Confidence was not what I needed.

I just needed to be comfortable…

…in my own skin.
…in myself.

I needed to look at the world through the lens of love.

Rather than through the lens of:
“I’ve got to prove myself to everyone.”

And this was a huge shift for me.

That shift was such a powerful gift to me
that I wanted to share it.

Now I find myself as the Heart Coach
at the Sports Model Project.

And one of the things we do
at the Sports Model Project is:

Help women, just like you,
connect with themselves more deeply.

Connect with themselves MORE wholeheartedly.

So that they’ll learn to love themselves
and live the life that they love.

So that they can let go of the trap of confidence
and step wholeheartedly into their vision.

You Are NOT An Imposter

Tell me a secret and I promise,
I won't tell anyone.

We're gonna keep it between us.

But deep down inside
there's that feeling of
dread and discomfort…

That disease in the belly
that asks the question:

Do I really know what I am?

The sphere can be totally
paralyzing in the areas
of our training and food
and mindset.

But what if I told you that
faking it till we make it
might actually be something else?

That they are the parts of us that allow us
to step into expertise around
training and nutrition
and mindset?

And without them,
we would never be in a position
where we could receive it
in the first place.

If you have parts of you
that have been trying to fake it…

That have been extracting
information off Instagram and off Google…

And trying to figure out

how it applies to your food
and your training
and how you shift
your internal system
and mind?

We are here to tell you
you're NOT faking it.

You're NOT an imposter.

You are simply noticing
parts of your system
that want to learn more.

That is a quality that
EVERY single gal
in the Sports Model Project shares.

In fact, every coach on our team shares.

And it is the piece that allows us
to step into our vision,
to practice mastery
and eventually,
feel like we're no longer faking it.

If the ‘student’ parts of you
want to learn and need some help?

What If I Told You That...

Tracking macros and going to the gym
didn’t REALLY have anything to do
with food and exercise?

What if it has something to do with
FAR greater than that?

Something that’s a little bit
difficult to put language to?

We so often stand back
and watch people we admire,
Asking ourselves
how we get to where they are.

But here’s the thing
that masters know
that most don’t:

Ask a better question,
Get a better solution.

In the Sports Model Project,
We focus on 3 things.

The first is WHY.

Why do we feel this way?
Why do we think this way?

It’s important that
we understand our emotional drivers,
Especially when things get tough.

The second is WHAT.

What skills, habits, tools, and practices
do we need to engage in
to move our way to the mountain?

And the third,
which is the one that’s almost
always missing:

The HOW.

How do we engage with this process
while we’re living a life?

Not at a cost to our system?
And not at a sacrifice to our goal?

How are YOU going with your process?

If you want some help with that…
