The WBFF World Champion Interviews The Glute Guy Bret Contreras
A long time before I became the #1 Miss World WBFF Fitness Diva I was following Bret Contreras and using the training methods that he made popular. I was hip thrusting and crab walking and doing frog pumps.
I was also using them with my clients and getting killer results.
Fast forward to today and I’m so excited to have spent time with Bret and to compare notes with him on how I have used his method’s to win the world titles and with my athletes in The Sports Model Project. It’s really been really cool to share with him some of the distinctions that I have around what works with female athletes.
Most of the stuff we are using in our training has been around for 50 or 60 years so it’s not very often that a completely new way of doing things is discovered. However resistance training for women was bad, women weren’t challenged to lift heavy, they were given “candy” training programs that didn’t create massive change or they were given programs more appropriate for men's physiques and Men's goals.
So the amazing female physiques that we are building today in the WBFF come directly from forward-thinking coaches, athletes and researchers. Bret happens to be all of those and I really loved interviewing him.
I was also really pumped to get into the science of training and even the philosophy of why we train and what a good result is.
We also cover how your genetics are helping or hindering your progress, we really get into the fine detail and the science of body transformation.

Interview With Sohee Lee: Optimising For Body Composition
When it comes to getting your diet right… people often think you need to be strict. That you need to keep on top of absolutely everything. That everything needs to be counted and under control.
We all know, and have experienced the fact that you can’t out train your diet - it’s no wonder we spend a lot of time focussed in this area.
Recently, I geeked out with Sohee Lee from Soheefit about how we can and improve or habits and behaviours and eat “good enough” to hit our goals.
The timing is perfect given we've just hit Easter and a lot of people struggle with diet during this time of year.
Sohee has a TON of qualifications, including a bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University.
She’s a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning (NSCA-CSCS), a certified sports nutritionist through the International Society of Sports Nutrition (CISSN) and to round it all out, an IFPA Bikini Pro.
In other words, she knows her stuff. She’s got formal qualifications coming out of her ears, and she’s doing her masters in the psychology of eating behaviour.
What this ultimately means for you, is that what we talk about is not JUST her experience, it’s also backed by what’s current in the food AND psychology space when it comes to eating and behavioural change.
Given we’ve both had a history of eating disorders and difficulties with our relationship to food - I think it’s super valuable to hear from Sohee about how she approaches her food and nutrition.
This is a long and detailed interview…. it goes for a full hour with a TON of takeaways. When you watch it you will learn:
What the science is currently saying around calorie control and how this causes frustration and yoyo effects
Whether you should be focusing on macro control or intuitive eating plans
Why the common “macro” apps tend to give you macro recommendations that are not appropriate for most people
The best way to plan your food intake so that you don’t find yourself going over on your macros accidentally

Tennile Featured On Sunrise
Last week, my girl Tennile was featured on Sunrise on channel 7!
She has done such an amazing job and I'm so proud of her hard work and dedication and she looks unbelievable!
Tennile Is a PT runs a really successful program has kids and is juggling heaps of stuff and on top of that she is competing this wekend in the WBFF.
She was even kind enough to tell us her story.......
"So I decided to get a trainer to help me through comp prep as I've never competed beforeand I had read so much conflicting advice of what to do and what not to do. Around that time I came across your ad with you on the morning show."
"I loved your energy and attitude and everything that you had accomplished and after speaking with Nick on the phone for 40 mins (quite impressed he took the time) it just felt right. " "I didn't want to waste my time working it out for myself. "
"As you know I have a lot of kids and a personal training business of my own I just wanted someone to tell me what I had to do. "
"As a PT I read a lot of articles from different fitness gurus such as poliquin and Paul Chek
- they have very different opinions and left me second guessing everything.
I needed someone from the competition world and someone that I could trust."
"I was ready to do what had to be done."
"Since joining the sports model project I've finally gained muscle that I've been working for for years! Food has been a big factor for me. I didn't realize how much I actually had to eat!
I've really enjoyed my journey with Hattie and the girls from SMP.'
"I've learnt so much."
"My strength has increased dramatically."
"I've added 30kgs onto my deadlifts and I'm not far off hitting the big 100!
I know that's not a big number to a lot of gym junkies but it's big for me and I'm so proud of what I have accomplished".
"Recently you asked us what validates us.... and after a lot of thought" "I can honestly say that I am finally proud of me! "
"Ever since joining SMP I haven't missed one workout and I tracked my food every single day." 'Some days I didn't want to train, I didn't want to increase my weights and I felt overwhelmed with how much I had on my plate with my children and running a business."
"But I did it!"
"I accomplished what I set out for while being there for my family."
"So even before stepping on that stage I feel like a winner. To have Hattie there for constant support (yes PT's need support too)
and being a part of a community of girls all going through the same thing at the same time has certainly made my journey a lot easier. "
"The Sports Model Project is so much more than an online training program.
It's the whole package, with advice on mindset, discipline, training, and nutrition."
"World class advice from a world class athlete. The best and no 1 fitness model in the world! "
I'm so pleased to see my amazing girls get the recognition they deserve!
