quick suggestion: you need to get yourself to The MONA (Museum Of Old And New Art) ASAP. Is the most amazing museum I have ever been to.
I flew to Tasmania last weekend with a group of friends to see the exhibition and I have been feeling super inspired all week. I'm blessed, I travel a whole heap and see amazing things and this is right up there. I’m so happy that it is in Australia because think the collection and the museum are world class. It was actually a super cool thing to do for the weekend and Hobart has amazing food and wineries too!
There were so many amazing pieces of art, there were antiquities from all over the world including sarcophagi and traditional African headdresses. One of my favorite pieces was a huge, chrome, circular scaffold that had motion detectors. When you went In the middle of the circle the piece made sounds and lights that matched your movements. You could play music with movement, so cool!
I managed to hit a 30-second handstand in my favorite room which had these amazing images of flowers under x-ray, it was so serene and being able to hit a perfect handstand in such a beautiful space filled me with joy.
The only reason I could hit that handstand was because I have been doing regular (3-5x per week) practice. Getting better was hard because I had to unlearn bad habits I have developed over the last ten years. I played around for months not really practicing just having a go here and there but I got sick of staying about the same and not progressing.
There was no magic handstand exercise or secret trick stretch that did it. Just regular practice where I got better and better incrementally. I was an elite gymnast as a kid so until a few months ago I would get up on my hands for a while but I couldn’t maintain my balance or hold a really beautiful line my gymnastics background actually meant that i could fake it but....It was ugly.
Now it’s beautiful.
I’m not a gymnast anymore.
I’m the Miss World WBFF Figure Champion and I owe my title as number one in the world to the same thing.
In particular, I practice my posing every day of my comp prep, that’s the difference between me and the rest of the (amazing) field.
Girls are always reaching out to me and asking for a “one on one posing session” in the mistaken belief that they will learn some secret trick in that single hour that will take them over the edge. The truth it's they need, you guessed it…
That's why I designed my posing series it’s to help you become a champion by making sure each and every practice is perfect. That way when you get to competition your performance is perfect and as effortless as my handstand in The MONA.
