These past few days, I decided to take some time off training and focus on recovery.
Do I feel rested? Recharged?
And I had the best time of my life – with myself and my loved ones.
The whole year I have been training hard.
I was at the peak of my performance.
I got more skilled than ever.
And for that, I was able to give enough attention to the parts of me that are high-achieving.
But being the hardest worker in the room has allowed me to be flexible.
I have to take care of some parts of me that are gentle, too.
Should I feel bad about taking a break and then bouncing back?
Recovery, after all, is a part of the process.
So currently, just like you, I have to earn the right to put weight on the bar – even as a pro athlete.
I have to adapt to a beginner’s mindset coming back to squatting.
I have to start way back to weights that used to be my warm-up.
And that’s okay.
Training can be so humbling that it reminds me to honor all the parts of its process.
It reminds you of the value of discipline and self-development – of how essential continuous learning is, even as an elite athlete.
Because just like you, I, too, am a work in progress.
Transformation just never ends.
But of course, it took me a long time to acknowledge humility, patience, and the importance of slowing down as a high-performing woman.
…That the hardest work is knowing when to rest and to play.
And I know as for high-performing women like you, finding that balance is not easy.
You are already the hardest worker in the room.
