Restrictive, Robotic, Rigid. These are the three Rs that most of our girls used to associate with discipline.
They believed feeling constantly exhausted measures success, and perfection is the standard for greatness.
How do I know?
I was one of those girls. I used self-punishment as my fuel to do more, which ironically, only drained me empty.
So how can we find freedom, happiness, and love in discipline?
Here’s an inspiring story from our very own Tarri:
“Things came easily to me at school. I was a total overachiever!
I went along my perfect little life unbeknownst to me that I was about to hit a major wobbly, which would knock me off my I’m-in-control-of-everything perch. My body started changing, and I began to despise the way my thighs felt in my jeans and my chubby face looked in the mirror.
I would obsess about eating “bad” foods which would be followed by punishment on the treadmill.
Until… Hattie Boyle graced my Instagram feed.
She is what love looks like. Curiosity led me to follow Hattie’s cues and I dived headfirst into meditation; I did anything that felt good including being intensely disciplined in the gym, which was balanced with being playful and partying with my friends; as well as accepting my body type.
My life exploded with abundance. I gained new friends; people wanted to be around me for my boundless energy and I was inspiring others to pursue their own highest power and follow their hearts just by following my own.
I learned that feeling exhausted is not a measure of success in the gym or life. I can train, eat, feel energised and still see results. And that happiness is MY measure of success now."
I could not have said it more perfectly than our girl, Tarri! I'm forever honoured and grateful to see our girls living in the best shape of their life.
