Imagine the biggest elephant you’ve ever seen standing directly in front of you.
Now, here’s a weird question…
If you were to eat it… (yes, actually EAT it)...
How would you do it?
An animal that large you can’t just simply devour.
(No matter how hungry you are LOL)
You’d have to get pretty creative if you want it in your stomach, wouldn’t you?
Well, here’s a hint:
You’d approach consuming it the exact same way you would when conquering any goal…
One piece at a time.
Of course, this is easier said than done…
And no, we’re not condoning literally eating one of these beautiful creatures…
Like any daunting goal…
You have to break it down into manageable pieces…
So you’re never overwhelmed with biting off more than you can chew.
Step 1: Reflect
First, forget about the elephant (aka your “insurmountable” goal),
Turn inward for some self-reflection.
And ask yourself these questions:
How did I get here?
What did it take to get here?
What has happened on my journey?
What have I learned?
What do I need to learn going forward?
It’s important that you not only identify where you currently are in your life.
But to also understand what thoughts,
feelings, and actions contributed to your current reality.
Once you know where you’re starting from.
You can then start pivoting and work toward conquering your goal.
Step 2: Visualize the elephant (aka your BIG vision)
Visualizing the successful completion of your goal is a vital step…
Because without a target to hit you won’t know what you’re aiming for.
So ask yourself:
What is my vision?
Is my vision big enough? (aka does it scare me?)
How can I achieve it?
What resources/help do I need along the way?
Step 3: Eat the elephant
Remember, eating the elephant can only be done in bite-sized pieces…
One at a time.
You’ll need to figure out:
What steps do I need to take today?
How often do I need to do them?
How will I know I achieved a certain milestone?
How will I know I’ve done the right steps?
Of course, this is hard to do all by yourself.
After all, it’s an elephant!
When you’re navigating unknown territory,
You can easily get caught up in doubts and negative self-talk.
Which stops you from achieving your big vision.
