If you have been following SMP for a while now, you might have already noticed the language we use:
Training – not just exercise.
Nutrition – not diet.
Slower is faster.
Discipline might be a bit of a strong word, but another word for that is devotion, whichever makes you feel best.
To live your spirit and be your vision – not just becoming the best version of yourself.
Does that make any difference?
It absolutely does – a lot.
Because the language we use shapes our mindset.
If you say training: that means you are aiming for a long-term performance goal. It’s more about the process than just the workouts themselves.
If you use the word nutrition: the first thing that comes to your mind will probably be macros, nutrients, health.
Slower is faster means trusting the process, nailing the details, and enjoying the journey instead of chopping and changing to the newest flavour of the month.
Discipline is a strong word that is more attractive to our high-achieving parts.
Devotion is a softer version of the same concept that suits parts of us that are gentle.
Live your spirit, be your vision means to live the life that you love in the body and mind that you want. It encompasses everything in your life: your ideals, goals, relationships, values.
How does that concept apply to developing and enjoying hard habits?
Rather than saying, “I have to start journaling.”
You can say, “I get to start journaling.”
Instead of: “I have to train at least four times a week.”
You say: “I get to train at least four times a week.”
Saying you have to may sound like doing the thing forced upon you - when in reality it’s a choice you make.
So if you’re ready to make that choice:
The Sports Model Project is a process of transformation and personal mastery.
