First of all it’s physically impossible for them.
Kangaroos use not only their legs but also their tails - which are pure muscle - to propel themselves forward.Attempt this in reverse? You’d end up with a comical image of legs, tail and tiny front paws scrambling the air.
Aside from the physical - kangaroos don’t go backwards because they aren’t meant to.
Imagine a kangaroo: soaring across the plain in leaps and bounds with her mob. She’s effortless, graceful; she’s queen of the desert - and she knows it.
So, if it’s so unnatural for a kangaroo to move backwards - it’s criminal to try to restrain her. I’m sure you can probably relate.
She has her vision. She knows where she’s going; she knows what she’s capable of.
But something’s holding her back.
She’s frustrated. She’s putting in the work (she’s the hardest worker in the room, in fact).
It just feels un-natural.
