Two cyclists on a hilly race. One of them pedaled up the hill powerfully so she could head off fast. The other took it slow.
The fast cyclist was ahead of the game – at first. Soon enough, she starts to fatigue.
Panting all her way up to the final hill, she did manage to continue.
But all her energy drained; she did not make it to the end.
The slow cyclist went on steadily, sweating but still had energy, with lungs full of air.
She went on and got past the fast cyclist, now worn out, lying on the roadside,
just a foot away from the finish line.
And that was how the slow and steady won the race.
Who are you between the two?
Are you the fast and furious?
Or the slow and steady?
Because actually there is no “finish”.
Just milestones on the journey.
There was a time in my life when I would always go full throttle at 100%,
believing that’s how it’s supposed to be when you are a high performer.
But my own defeat humbled me.
It helped me realise that the hardest work is knowing when to play and rest.
Sometimes the slow cyclist pauses along the way.
When she saw a water station, she stopped by to drink some water.
She took some rest, felt recharged, and was ready to set off again.
This is something we teach constantly in the Sports Model Project.
You will be guided by our specialist team of coaches and mentors every step of YOUR journey.
Because slower is faster.
Are you ready to take the route to mastery and learn from the masters?
To take the path of mastery rather than the short cuts and quick fixes?
SMP is a process of transformation and personal mastery.
And it’s ONLY for the hardest worker in the room (who knows when to rest and play).
If you are a good fit? We will be talking next week.
Love and light,
Hattie x The SMP Coaching Team
