Ho, ho, ho. It’s the time of the year again.
How do you make everything work over the holiday period.
You want to try and maintain your macros.
You want to try and keep up with your disciplines, habits and training
But it’s hard to do that when everyone else around you is celebrating!
What should you do?
Should you just relax and have fun and forget about your macros?
Or should you stay strict to your numbers no matter what?
“Even just a bite of pudding or mince pie is a big no!”
Ultimately, it comes down to what you’d prefer so that you can have a happy holidays for yourself and your family.
Three things you need to remember:
It’s the time of the year to be playful, to be present with your friends, lover, and family.
If you only get stressed by food, you won’t get the most of your nutrition. Just like riding a bicycle, nutrition requires balance to work. And by balance means you also need to take care of your overall well-being.
Does this mean you don’t need to track my macros when eating out?
Nope. You CAN still track your macros even when eating out at a work party or restaurant.
But please don’t do this because you are afraid of going beyond your macros.
You do this because you use your macros as a tool.
The numbers are there to support you, not to restrict you from living life.
It’s unnecessary to completely deny yourself from eating the food you enjoy!
So what should you do with the excess calories you gained on Christmas?
Firstly: you don’t have to massively over eat.
Second: if you do eat a bit more than normal, you could use that energy for your training!
There’s lots of options - but remember:
High standards without self-compassion is self-bullying. Don’t be the Grinch to yourself.
As the song goes, “‘Tis the season to be jolly!”
Remember — it’s all about balance.
