Simple concept here:
Going beyond your calories → Put on weight
In a calorie deficit → Losing some weight
That was what exactly you did, right?
But it’s still not working.
Question: Are you eating enough calories?
If your calorie intake is consistently too low for a long period of time,
your body will go into starvation mode.
It will eat your muscle and store energy as fat.
So how much exactly is enough?
How many calories do you really need?
It depends on several factors like:
> your genetics
> body composition
> health history &
> history of dieting
Note: Determining the right level of calories
and amount of energy you need
can take a few trial and error.
But here’s a general idea:
If you’re someone who trains hard consistently 4-5x a week,
a safe range would be between 1800 and 2400 cal.
(I know that’s way more than you’ve been told)
But that’s not the full story yet.
Because it’s NOT just all about calories.
There’s one thing bigger than that.
And that’s:
MACROS.
They’re the bedrock of your nutrition.
You need enough protein, healthy fat, fibre, and carbs
to get enough energy and nutrients,
which also helps maintain your body structure and system.
Knowing the right macros
and learning how to count them
can radically change your body.
