Ever notice that most fitness influencers burn out?
A few seasons of shows
and then they move to yoga.
Or they show you behind the scenes
of what’s so wrong with “the industry”.
It’s just they don’t talk about the fact that they’re burntout.
Maybe they don’t even realise it.
Maybe you don’t either.
We certainly didn’t until we learnt how we were doing something wrong…
Specifically to do with your training.
When in fact, rest is the MOST important variable in training programs.
In a study done by Schoenfeld et al, they found out that:
“longer rest periods promote greater increases in muscle strength and hypertrophy” than shorter rest periods. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26605807/)
They assigned 21 experienced lifters to either a group that performed
Where all other RT variables are held constant.
And the results?
Those with the longer rest period have gotten stronger and have thicker muscles compared to shorter.
And this means for you that if you want to:
Then you need to rest.
And it’s not just self-care.
Or “being kind to yourself.”
Rest is the key to determining
what types of effect your training has on your body.
Outside of training,
it’s the place where your body actually changes.
So if you aren’t resting?
You actually AREN’T training properly.
You’re only leaving a whole heap of your gains on the table.
That’s why in SMP, you will only not learn how to train and kill it in the gym…
But you will also learn when and how to rest…
The hardest work is knowing when to rest and play.
